Nothing is going to stop the rumor train from rolling this close to E3, but the video clip above would have you believe Square Enix’s Final Fantasy XV (that stands for 15, by the way, for those who don’t do Roman numerals or have simply lost count) will be landing on the Wii U and other consoles whenever the game releases.
This same line of rumor also says Final Fantasy XV is what was previously known as Final Fantasy Versus XIII, a game that was initially shown along with Final Fantasy XIII back when it was revealed. Outside of a couple of video clips, Versus has yet to see the light of day, having been beaten by is supposed sister game and a direct sequel in that time frame.
Consume this with skepticism and the knowledge that anyone with a modicum of video editing skill can tamper with footage. Also of note, this upcoming game indicates it’s coming for PlayStation 3 and Wii U but no Xbox 360. The last two main series Final Fantasy games have been simultaneously released on the Microsoft console. Might someone have super-imposed a Wii U logo over what was in reality an Xbox 360 logo?
